A once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of the Tornado's 10th anniversary tour of Great Britain in October 2018. The A1 Peppercorn Class steam locomotive No.60163 will haul the sumptuous carriages of Belmond Royal Scotsman (14 October - 27 October, 2018).
Ten intricately designed carriages form the perfect country house-on-wheels from which to savour this extra-special tour with many special touches. Limited to a maximum of just 38 places.
As well as 'A1' No.60163, the train is to be hauled by Collett 4-6-0 No.6024 King Edward I and '7P' No.46100 Royal Scot, plus the engines of various preserved heritage lines across Great Britain.
"For some years we have wanted to create something wonderful and unique in the UK, so we are more than delighted to be pairing what is the most luxurious British train with this amazing new-build locomotive, and showcasing the very best of Great Britain."
Planned cultural activities include dinners in Cawdor and Peckforton Castles, while railway highlights include Tornado and the 'King' double-heading from Penzance and over the South Devon Banks, and working 'top and tail' between Lostwithiel and Fowey. The itinerary also includes overnight running behind the Tornado, while the train makes its way between Edinburgh and Chester.
